Upending Lives: Lies, Lies and More Lies
I just can’t tolerate it. It is OK to be political and to advocate for one’s positions and one’s preferred candidates. But, in the process, it is not OK to lie and upend the lives of people lawfully in our nation.
T and V are doing just that. They are peddling lies and damaging people in the process. T says he doesn’t know E. Jean Carroll. Both T and V have dragged Haitian people through the dirt. And Springfield Ohio is in a crisis now. V has wasted no time slamming people and ideas; take divorce and child care as just two examples. In the debate between Kamala and T, T told over 30 lies. Get that: 30 lies.
Instead of focusing on real manufacturing, T and V are manufacturing lies. And Laura Loomer is part of the package now; she is someone who has denigrated people and events. She is glued to T and is replacing the absent Melania (who is defending nude modeling) as the “significant other” by T’s side.
My ranting does not stop the lies. Newscasters reporting doesn’t do much either. I suspect that some 49% of our nation don’t see or hear or care about the lies. T and V are like the bad parents that children accept as the norm even as these parents are outside the norm of acceptable behavior socially, psychologically and philosophically.
So now what? We can attend rallies. We can work to get out the vote of those who are marginalized. We can speak to friends and colleagues. We can work the polls to ensure that registered votes get to vote.
But, we need to do more. We need to call out lies and lying and liars. We need to message that in America (or any nation), dictators lie, autocrats lie, power seekers lie, narcissists lie, mean people lie, some candidates lie. And we need to say: Enough. Run for office based on what is real and truthful and let’s not live in a building (society) constructed by lying, fanciful, discriminatory and mean spirited architects. We need decent architects to design our future. For our children, for our mental wellness, for our future, can we elect decent architects who will build a government for all? The key words here: for all. That means men and women and immigrants and transgender folks and those of different colors and cultures and creeds. Please.
And like the piece of art above messages, we are at risk of becoming totally unbuttoned. We are out of control, out of reality, out of truth. Being over buttoned isn’t good. But being totally unbuttoned is risky. It is ironic that as Melania shares her unbuttoned past, her husband is also unbuttoned …. with his clothes on.
