Unexpected Heros and Heroines

Sometimes heroes & heroines come out of unexpected places.

The Khans are an example. Who knew that their story — and their pain — would showcase the leadership gaps in one of the presidential candidates? A leader needs to do these two things at a minimum among other attributes like wisdom and intelligence and experience and thoughtfulness and capacity to listen to the voices of others: (1) understand the pain of others and (2) absorb criticism and appreciate how one might improve through self-reflection. Those two items are key to quality leadership.

Sadness abounds for the Khans. Bravo/brava for their courage. Mrs. Khan’s piece in the Washington Post is stellar. Mr. Khan’s showing of the Constitution — moving.

Onward as I often say — reflecting on how to improve our nation and the lives of those who live within and outside our shores.
