My Basset and Easter Happening

So, I live in MA on the water near a shipyard. As I was walking Wrinkles (my basset) on Easter, a car was passing us on the narrow roadway leading into the shipyard. The driver slowed down, rolled down his window and said:

“You have to love a woman who loves a basset.”

And with that, he drove on. Here’s a photo of that woman and the basset she loves walking by the shipyard.

As I have been reflecting on this wee snippet of Easter conversation, it struck me. Was the speaker suggesting that it is hard to love a basset? (Not true) Was he suggesting that bassets so funny looking only a mother can love them? (True they are funny looking but they are lovable by many). Was the speaker suggesting that bassets are so amazing that one has to love their owners? (True). Was the speaker simply adding grace and kindness to the day? (Yes)

Whatever the speaker meant, it was uplifting and not insulting. In a world so filled with meanness, it seemed only right to share a positive story about a woman and her lovable, funny looking, adorable basset named Wrinkles.
