Hear Ye, Hear Ye…
The above is the language of US District Judge Howell. Brava! The America I knew (know?) was/is not governed by a King; as I recall, we were founded as a nation to revolt against a King.
As a serious aside: Judge Howell might now need police protection for her personal safety and that of her family, as should the NLRB appointee Wilcox whose job is now restored. They are at risk.
In an excellent provocative piece (no shock there) in the NYTimes, James Carville suggests Democrats sit on their hands for now and let the Republicans proceed to destroy whole chunks of our the nation and then, at the right moment, pounce. Really? I get that we have no controlling power in either the House or the Senate and obviously not in the Imperial WH.
But how long do we let terror (and its King and his minions) reign? A week? A month? A year? And do we just let the carnage happen and watch as people and nature and markets devolve?
I get the presence and absence of power. I get that the cards are all held in one or two or three hands. But do we just watch horror like a television show and turn it off in our minds and hearts when the violence is too great?
Question: How do we topple a King whose popularity remains high among many and whom many fear rebelling against as he (and his type) are filled with revenge? Can you answer that please?
In the meanwhile, some of our courts are showing muscle and might. Light? Is that light I see?
Thank you Judge Howell.
